About the Author
Jeroen J. G. van Merriënboer (1959) is professor of Learning and Instruction at Maastricht University, The Netherlands, where he is heading the research program of the Graduate School of Health Professions Education (SHE). He has published over 150 scientific articles in the areas of learning and instruction and medical education.
Paul A. Kirschner (1951) is professor of Educational Psychology, Program Chair of the Learning and Cognition program and Coordinator of Research at the Centre for Learning Sciences and Technologies (CELSTEC) at the Open University of the Netherlands, and Scientific Director of the Netherlands Laboratory for Lifelong Learning (NeLLL).

The content is great, but the ebook execution is terrible

The content is great, but the ebook execution is terrible. The table of contents links don't work (at least not on cloud reader or iPad), so it's very difficult to navigate through the book. This is exacerbated by the fact that there are no page numbers, only loc numbers. Finally, the book has glossary terms throughout, but the terms aren't linked to the glossary; they're just have asterisks around them. To me it seems like one of the major benefits of having an ebook edition would be able to go directly to the glossary by clicking on a term. I wish I would have bought the print version instead.

Outstanding book!

This book is simply a must for any professional instructional designer or teacher. Ten Steps are based on scientific research in psychology and the learning sciences. I've owned 2 copies of the 1st edition (2007), and have recommended this approach to my students and others. The 2nd edition reflects some changes based on further research and reader feedback.
I highly recommend it. It's very clearly written, and empirical research studies are cited where necessary to substantiate guidelines.

This book will help people change the world (for the better)

I've been in the learning technology business for 30 + years and have a MA in education. Without a doubt, this is the best book on instructional design that I have ever read. It takes ideas and intuitions that I've had in my head for many years and makes then clear in the form of a complete and holistic model. Not a wasted word in this book. Thank you for writing this!
