Couldn't put it down

Holy cannoli, I couldn't put this book down. I'm a picky reader, and many books don't make it past the first chapter. This book was awesome.
At first glance, this is a fast-paced crime thriller with a big dose of vigilante tale. The action scenes are pretty kick-ass. The author does a good enough job that I can actually hear and see bones crunching. Aside from the action, though, take a closer look, and you'll find the more subtle underpinnings of family bonds and strong devotion supporting the story. The main character doesn't say a whole lot, but sheesh does he deliver a punch! Behind every punch is the conviction that he will find his niece, or die trying. There were plenty of moments where I wasn't at all sure he would make it out alive, and I really wanted him to!
The writing and the plot had me hooked from the first few pages. Every major reveal was perfect, there were no plot holes that tripped me up, and in every chapter I learned a little more about the protagonist - just enough to make me want to know even more about him.
Overall, I really enjoyed 21 Hours, and will be reading more from this author.

Captivating Novel

21 Hours is a thrilling book that expounds on the power of a family relationship, and exactly what lengths a man would go to in order to protect those he loves. This novel is full of suspense and brings out an array of emotions as we learn more about the characters and the events that take place in the short time frame of only 21 hours. Stevens writes in such descriptive way that captivates, and allows you to easily visualize each scene and character. 21 Hours is an easy read, and one that you won't want to put down!

Trudging through the morning one calf at a time, the quiet ranch-hand life O had sought for himself in Wyoming quickly spiraled into a cross-country mission. Pried from his hidden solitude by a phone call from his sister, O finds himself driving all night back to a hometown he had left behind with good reason. Clamoring desperately to find his niece, Annie, after she is kidnapped from her very own front yard, O works his way through a maze of family tragedy, hospital attendants, and hostile law enforcement into the underbelly of a network of crime far more sophisticated than anyone could ever have imagined.
Cautiously assisted by Detective Watts of the CPD, O careens through the streets of Columbus, maneuvering his way through life and death situations. As the hours tick by, O grapples with the growing realization that Annie may not have been the only child abducted in a twisted network of child trafficking run by some of the seediest characters, emboldened from the shadows by a wealth of resources and menacing threats upon which they make good.
This well-written thriller by Dustin Stevens ties the spirit of humanity in with the oft-overlooked horrors of the criminal world in a gut-wrenching tale of family, love, survival and fast-paced chaos. As his main character delves deep into his own personal history and attempts to calculate each move with precision, Stevens' readers will find themselves undeniably marveling at the grace and fluidity of such a hard-edged story. This story is a must-read for readers of all genres.
